MIDWOOD - Students from J-Teen Leadership in Westchester spent the day volunteering at a soup kitchen in Midwood today.

The group of students is a teen-led Jewish social nonprofit and decided to go to Masiba Soup Kitchen after visiting the area following Sandy. They said they admired the soup kitchen`s dedication to the community.

Masiba serves dinner in a restaurant-style setting from Sunday to Thursday, feeding about 500 people each night.

The group also visited the Rockaways on Sunday to help paint and plaster three homes damaged by Sandy.

The group says volunteering on Veterans Day is the perfect way to honor those who have served.
